The two Aultman Orrville employees, Matt Baldwin and Susan Gessel, received separate awards. Baldwin, a pharmacist and a resident of Orrville, received a Rising Star Award. This award recognizes employees with less than five years of service who show potential for advancement, enthusiasm in promoting the Foundation and ways to improve services offered. Gessel, an administrative assistant/medical staff coordinator and a resident of Wooster, received a Golden Apple award. Golden Apples are given to Aultman employees who promote the Foundation’s mission and values and whose performance is beyond what is normally expected.

Baldwin has worked at Aultman Orrville as a staff pharmacist for 14 months. He is a graduate of Ohio Northern University and is currently participating in the Independent Hospital Network College through Aultman Orrville. Baldwin and his wife, Beth, have a 2-year-old son, Ryan, and are expecting another baby boy in August.

Gessel has worked at Aultman Orrville as an administrative assistant/medical staff coordinator for 24 years. She is a graduate of the Independent Hospital Network College class of 2006, and she is an active member of the Employee Activity Committee. In past years, Gessel has been recognized for teamwork, positive attitude and outstanding performance. She and her husband, Michael, own a dairy farm in Wooster. They have a daughter, Amanda, who is a senior at Malone University, and a son, Cody, who is a junior at Ohio University.

“We are very proud that two of our employees are receiving these awards,” said Jennifer Kessel, Aultman Orrville director of human resources. “Matt and Susan’s commitment to excellence sets a positive example for others, and we are lucky to have them as employees.”

The Aultman Orrville award winners were joined by more than 800 Aultman Health Foundation employees at the dinner. The event celebrated employee milestones ranging from five years of service to 45 years of service.
