The new synthetic turf will allow Orrville City Schools and the community to utilize the field every day, which they were unable to do with a natural grass field.
The project not only benefits the football team but will also be used by the soccer team, band, track team, Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club and other community groups. The new turf provides these groups and teams with a safer playing field and one that is sustainable for years to come.
The “Team Up for Turf” project was privately funded with the involvement of many local businesses and individuals. Orrville High School Athletic Director Kent Smith is amazed by the community support, including Aultman Orrville’s contribution.
“We are so pleased with Aultman Orrville becoming one of our primary business sponsors for this project,” Smith stated. “Their significant contribution is an example of how businesses and individuals in Orrville always seem to come together to make positive things happen.”
The unveiling of the new turf will be Friday, August 31 when the Orrville Red Riders will host Triway that evening.
