On May 1, the National Day of Fitness, the Growing Healthy Habits Coalition will launch this year’s Orrville Moves, a fitness program designed to encourage exercise throughout the summer and early fall. The kick-off registration event will be held from 10 a.m. – noon at Aultman Orrville Hospital, and the first 500 participants to register will receive a free T-shirt.
Formerly known as Orrville Walks, Orrville Moves runs through Oct. 2 and equips each participant with a scannable card featuring a customized QR code. The card can be scanned to record activity at locations such as Aultman Orrville Sports & Wellness, Orrville Public Library, the Orrville YMCA or Zephyr’s Fitness. Those who log a minimum of three days of activity per week will be eligible to win prizes in a weekly drawing.
The kick-off event will feature “Move More” sessions and short walks led by Freddy the Frog, an Aultman mascot, during registration hours. Pets are welcome but must remain outside the facility due to health regulations.
Throughout the five-month program, walking route maps will be available to provide variety and progression throughout the program. All physical activities can be converted to miles. The Growing Healthy Habits Coalition encourages all types of activity for a healthier community.
Additional registration is available at Aultman Orrville Sports & Wellness during normal business hours at 365 S. Crown Hill Road in Orrville, Ohio, 44667. For more information, call 330-684-4732.
