ORRVILLE, Ohio (Nov. 21, 2017) – Aultman Orrville Hospital is offering the Safe Sitter® training course for adolescents ages 11 and older. The training will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 8:45 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Aultman Orrville Community Room.
Safe Sitter training provides an up-to-date curriculum, including hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques that prepare baby sitters for emergencies. Training includes basic first aid and infant and child choking rescue. Baby sitters also receive instruction on age-appropriate care, preventing problem behavior and running a baby-sitting business. The program instills adolescents with confidence as they learn how, why and where injuries can occur so they can be prevented.
To graduate from the Safe Sitters program, students must complete and pass a practical and written test that indicates their comprehension of the curriculum. More than 650,000 adolescent babysitters have graduated from the program.
Aultman Orrville has been a registered Safe Sitter teaching site since 2003.
The cost of the course is $50, and the registration deadline is Dec. 8. Call 330-684-4703 to register a son, daughter or child’s baby sitter. Space is limited.
