As part of Aultman’s commitment to the safety and health of our patients, staff and visitors, the organization has chosen to restrict visitation in response to increasing flu activity. Effective immediately, those visitors under the age of 14 will not be permitted to visit, as early flu and cold symptoms are not always apparent in this age group.
This decision was collaboratively made under the direction of Infection Prevention and Control Chairperson Dr. Margaret Kobe and the other Stark County hospitals. In the event that circumstances warrant the need for individuals under the age of 14 to visit, special consideration may be given by the charge nurse. Signage will be posted reflecting these visitation restrictions at main entrances and key visitor areas.
Please educate your staff on these visitation restrictions and encourage them to discuss the signs and symptoms of the flu, and hand hygiene with visitors. Questions or concerns can be directed to Infection Prevention and Control at ext. 34815.
The status will be re-evaluated periodically in order to determine to continue/discontinue these actions.
