Aultman Orrville Sports & Wellness recently celebrated their one year anniversary offering the SilverSneakers Program. This national program provides fitness center memberships to older adults and is offered as a benefit of several Medicare Advantage plans.

SilverSneakers allows eligible individuals access to specialty exercise services and personalized fitness plans at the Aultman Orrville Sports & Wellness facility. Since the program started June 1, 2013, the number of members benefiting from the program has continued to grow. Aultman Orrville Sports & Wellness staff members provide prescription exercise plans to SilverSneakers members, tailored to fit their individual health and wellness needs.

“The addition of this program has helped us make a positive impact in the health and wellness of many members of the SilverSneakers program,” said Dave Speicher, Aultman Orrville Sports & Wellness Manager. “In addition, we continue the Aultman mission to lead our community to improved health.”

Members are seeing progress in their health and wellness by improving their function with activities of daily living, strength, balance and energy level. The social aspect of working out with fellow SilverSneakers members is also a highlight of the program.

Re-assessments and new exercise plans are offered on a semi-annual basis for members. Medicare Advantage plan participants should check with their health plan on the SilverSneakers benefit.
