The Aultman Orrville Diabetes Self-Management Training Program has been awarded continued recognition from the American Diabetes Association.
ORRVILLE, Ohio (Feb. 7, 2013) – The Aultman Orrville Diabetes Self-Management Training Program has been awarded continued recognition from the American Diabetes Association.
The ADA Education Recognition effort is a voluntary process that assures that education programs meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Programs. Programs that achieve recognition status have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide up-to-date information about diabetes management for participants.
Self-management education is an essential component of diabetes treatment. Participants in an ADA recognized program are taught self-care skills that promote better management of their diabetes treatment regimen.
Through the support of the health care team and increased knowledge and awareness of diabetes, patients can assume a major part of the responsibility of their diabetes management. Unnecessary hospital admissions and some of the acute and chronic complications of diabetes may be prevented through self-management education.
Diabetes Self-Management Training at Aultman Orrville can be scheduled in a group or one-on-one sessions for patients. Patients should speak with their primary care physician about Diabetes Self-Management. A physician referral is necessary to register for the program. For more information or to register for the program, contact program coordinator and Certified Diabetes Educator, Bobbie Randall, RD, LD at 330-684-4776.
